GenSend Appalachia Summer Intern

 Group in Kentucky

Ashland | #KY-01
2 Males & 2 Females
June 1 – July 29

Spend a summer engaging the people in the Appalachian region, primarily in the area around Ashland. You will work with local churches and the Send Relief Ministry Center to address issues of poverty. You will have the opportunity to interact and share the Gospel with children and adults. Many have heard the name of Jesus and may know some Bible stories, but with over 80 % of the people in the area not connected with an evangelical church, there is much work to do here. You will develop skills for life and ministry as you discover how to ask questions to determine the needs of the community.  There will be opportunities to serve at the Ministry Center as well as to connect with people in the community in different settings, from government housing complexes to local parks. The goal is to engage the community in order to build relationships that give you the opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus. As you participate in cultural immersion and people group discovery, you will learn about discipleship, evangelism, and cultural ministry. A desire to minister in a small town context is imperative. Requires some physical activity outdoors.
