Bring excitement and the draw of native English speakers to this least-reached area of Thailand! You will bring great encouragement to the Thai national partners as you help teach Bible studies, visit in local homes, teach English to neighborhood children, play sports, and participate in outreach events. Bring a servant’s heart and a friendly smile with the goal of building relationships for the Gospel. During the last week of the summer, join with Thai believers to help with an English Camp in Bangkok, teaching short English lessons and leading English games.
Buriram is a rural province in Northeast Thailand with little infrastructure and lots of tropical vegetation. It is a 6-hour drive from Bangkok. Monsoons can be daily during the rainy season. Smile a lot and make an effort to learn basic Thai vocabulary and it will bring you respect and acceptance. Wear modest clothing with covered shoulders and skirts. Shorts should be long - just above the knee. No crop tops. Be comfortable but try not to look like a tourist.
Students will need to be able to withstand high heat and humidity. Sometimes there are field burnings which can be problematic for asthmatics. Food is often prepared with shellfish, cashews, peanut oil, palm oil, and/or MSG.
