What is every day that Jesus delays His return? It's time to work. Time, for the Holy Spirit to work through us, followers of Jesus... so that those who have never heard the Gospel will hear; so that those who have heard will believe; and those who have believed will have their lives transformed, each person becoming a living testimony to others. That's the meaning of 2 Peter 3:9:
"The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."
For what other reason would Jesus delay His return, knowing that He loves us and that so many of us are suffering? It's because there are multitudes that He also loves, whom He wants us to reach. So besides being inspired to make this work a top priority in our lives... let's be encouraged by this truth:
Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. Romans 8:18
